چکیده

The mixing process is often used not only to homogenize the materials, but also bring out better functions by different materials. In involving chemical reactions, it important quickly remove by-products of reaction. this study, a flow field around single rotor rotating in partially filled chamber was numerically simulated using 3D model examine interface renewal characteristics highly viscous fluids. fluids examined were glycerin, which Newtonian fluid, and aqueous solution carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), Non-Newtonian fluid. A three-wing chosen as rotor. evaluation performed history particles. Also, states classified into rotational, shear, extensional flows Flow number analyze field. velocity distribution obtained simulation good agreement with experimental results under same geometry conditions. For distributive renewal, CMC superior glycerin. number-based evaluations showed similar conditions rotor, regardless physical properties test However, case fluid between adjacent spaces separated wing suppressed renewals reduced. This because, compared CMC, glycerin does have decrease viscosity due shear-thinning properties, rate passing through tip relatively small. It shown that there positive correlation part

Numerical investigation of thermal mixing of shear thinning fluids in one-way opposing jets

In recent years, impinging streams have received increasing interest for their high efficiency in heat and mass transfer. This numerical study was conducted to investigate flow and heat transfer characteristics of one-way opposing jets of non-Newtonian fluids. Effects of Reynolds number impinging angle, momentum ratio and flow behavior index on mixing index were evaluated. The results showed im...

Mixing Behaviors of Shear-Thinning Fluids in Serpentine-Channel Micromixers

This study aims to investigate the mixing behaviors of deionized (DI) water and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) solutions in C-shaped serpentine micromixers over a wide range of flow conditions. The flow of CMC solutions exhibits shear-thinning behaviors. Numerical simulations are performed to investigate the effects of the mean flow speed, fluid properties and geometry parameters on flow and mix...

The Effect of Shear Thinning Behaviour on Turbulent Pipe Flow

Direct numerical simulation of the weakly turbulent flow of non-Newtonian fluids is undertaken for two different generalised Newtonian rheology models using a spectral element--Fourier method. Results for a power law (shearthinning) rheology agree well with experimentally determined logarithmic layer correlations and with other previously published experimental work. As the flow index becomes s...
